Writer for hire
As a trained journalist, I turn tricky topics into copy that’s a breeze to read ⚡
Hey there,
I’m Kim, a freelance writer and editor in Melbourne.
I’m available to tackle all kinds of writing or editing projects, whether you need a research-dense feature article, pithy blog post or landing page, crystal-clear technical guide or whip-smart social media ad.
I specialise in translating complex info into simple and accessible language (but if you want a bit of colour, I can do that too).
For close to a decade, I’ve worked as a journalist, copywriter and editor . My copywriting experience means I can confidently follow a brief and find the right tone for a project; my journalism training means I’m a skilled researcher and interviewer who delivers clean copy on deadline.

Copywriting & content
I produce copy that’s clean but lively, smart but unpretentious.

Here’s a sample of a few recent projects.
Open Universities Australia | Web copy and blog content
I write stories for OUA that feature friendly, accessible language, break down topics into simple terms, and offer advice to people who might be considering university study for the first time.
I contribute stories to Medibank’s print magazine and digital imprint, Live Better, exploring health and wellbeing topics in a warm and reassuring tone.
I was also recently contracted for a content series in partnership with the AFLW, interviewing current and former players about how they navigate health challenges as professional athletes.
Four Pillars Gin | Social, blog and EDM copy
In a three-month contract with Four Pillars Gin, I worked with the in-house team to community manage social media pages and write eDMs, blog content, and social copy and ads, using the distillery’s distinct and playful brand voice.
University of Melbourne | Web copy, blog content, editing
After working as an in-house copywriter at the university, I continue to write and edit copy as a freelancer. I tame academic jargon into everyday language to produce clean and compelling copy that showcases the university’s courses and research.
In a short contract for arts festival White Night, I wrote social content and eDMs that captured the spirit of the event and the regional cities in which it was held.
In a series of blog articles for Chisholm Institute, I profiled the TAFE’s courses and the staff who deliver them, using a warm and accessible tone.
Feature writing
My journalism and criticism have appeared in major Australian newspapers and publications including Leaps Mag, Create, Renew, and Atlas Obscura.
I like to cover stories about science, technology, the natural world, and
interesting people doing interesting things.
Here’s a very quick selection.
